Surprise!!!

This past Saturday was my new best friends birthday! Rose was turning 25 :) I wanted it to be something that was special and that she wouldn't expect....so I planned a surprise party!!

I only invited her closet friends and we had her boyfriend bring her by her favorite coffee shop before going on their "movie" date. When she arrived we were hiding behind the register and jumped out while throwing balloons! It was wonderful, her face was priceless and you could immediately tell she felt special. Goal accomplished. I made her brownies, her favorite, a cute cake, and then we sat around telling stories! It wasn't a loud party, but a meaningful one...just the perfect party for Rose.

That night  I received an e-mail from Rose:
"Tama, I was moved so much by u.
This was the first birthday party I had. Everything was comfortable. It's also my first surprise party. I heard some of my roommates gave a surprise birthday party to another roommate during a summer holiday in my college time. I was so envious. And I was sad cause I didn't believe there will be someone want to prepare so much for me. Today I'm so glad I was wrong, and now I know I deserve it...."

Chinese Fire Drill...

I now know where that comes from. The past two nights on our way home I have seen cars stopped with doors open at a red light, with people switching seats. They weren't racing or even in a slight hurry. I think they just thought to themselves.."I don't want to drive....so I am going to get in the back seat." haha anyways...I started laughing remembering as a kid friends talking about a chinese Firedrill. Its just ironical that i am in china and actually saw one.

3 years and counting...

Newly weds. During our first two years of marriage, every time Jeremy and I hugged, kissed, or laughed with each other, people would look at us with a funny face and explain "OH, you two are just newly weds!" We would then share a polite laugh with them. But inside, I didn't like being called that...it felt as if they were saying we weren't really  going to be that happy, it was just for right now. Now, even after 3 years, we still get that comment. Just the other day in the office as Jeremy and I were quoting "Christmas Vacation" and "Dumb and Dumber" lines...Merwin was laughing and said the "newly wed" line. But to my surprise I didn't get frustrated, but rather delighted to see that after 3 years, we still got what it takes! I have always known we have something special! I can spend every moment with J and never get tired of him. He makes me laugh more than anyone else, he plays my stupid games, and loves me like crazy despite my...

New Home?

What to pack? If you have moved before you are aware of the excitement and stress that comes along with it! So far moving hasn't been the biggest stresser. I think what stresses me out is the fact that I am at my house but it no longer looks like or feels like home. The feeling of not having a comfort home is not a good one. I reminds me of a story one of my friends was telling me. It was about a missionary that was once asked about where her home was, since she moved all the time. She explained that through her time as a missionary the Father had shown her, this world never was suppose to be our home. That through moving over and over sharing the word she began to understand that meaning. Her home wasn't a present tangible place on the earth but it was in her heart and an eternal place. I really hope that one day my thought and heart would truly feel that! Packing: I have learned that I am extremely blessed to have material things and friends and family to help! I have l...
